Speech & Drama

The Speech & Drama section of Eisteddfod Guernsey offers children and adults the opportunity to compete in a friendly, competitive environment across numerous and varying classes that range from Individual Poems to Group Pieces. It is a vibrant celebration of self-expression through storytelling and performing. Welcoming participants from ages 4 to 90, it offers a platform where individuals and groups can showcase their talents across a wide variety of classes-from heartfelt poetry recitals to engaging ensemble performances. Over the past fifty years, this section has blossomed into one of the most cherished parts of the Eisteddfod, now drawing in 300 to 400 performers annually. It is more than just a friendly competition; it’s a nurturing ground for confidence, creativity, and connection. We hope that each participant, young and old, leaves the stage with a stronger belief in their ability, useful feedback on how to progress from our UK-sourced and qualified adjudicators, and most importantly have had a great time performing their piece. This section is a staple in the theatrical calendar and it is our goal that this section continues to spark imagination and enrich the cultural fabric of Guernsey.
